For the first time this season, CBS was the No. 1 network in the 18-to-49-year- old demographic on a Wednesday night, narrowly surpassing Fox and ABC while also pulling in the highest number of total viewers. The victory was at least partly the result of some key programs on the other networks underperforming.
“Modern Family” on ABC had a below-average showing in the 18-to-49 demo and hit a season low in total viewers — 12.1 million. On Fox, a 90-minute episode of “The X Factor” was also down 11 percent in that demo when compared to last week, and that singing show had 10.6 million total viewers. Meanwhile, viewers may not hate Fox’s “I Hate My Teenage Daughter,” but there seems to be at least a strong dislike for the fledgling sitcom, as it lost 25 percent of the 18- to-49 audience for the show’s debut last week.
